Witnesses sought after serious collision, Barnstaple |

Officers are appealing for witnesses after four people were injured in a serious collision in Barnstaple. Emergency services were called just before 9.10pm on Sunday 26 April after a Vauxhall Astra van and a Ford Focus were involved in a collision on the A361 at Chivenor. The van driver, a man in 30s from Plymouth, sustained serious injuries and was taken to North Devon District Hospital. The three occupants of the car, all from Ilfracombe, were also taken to hospital. A man and a woman in their 70s sustained minor injuries and a woman in her 80s suffered a potentially serious injury. Officers from the Roads Policing Team closed the road for four-and-a-half hours while they carried out an examination of the scene and the vehicles were recovered. They are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.
